The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) was founded in 1995. It is a dynamic and research-driven university with around 9,000 students, approximately 150 professors and 300 research associates. They are supported by around 350 highly qualified lecturers from the fields of academia, business and industry.
The university is located in Hennef, Rheinbach and Sankt Augustin. In Bonn, the University of Applied Sciences runs the B-IT (Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology) jointly with Bonn University and Aachen Technical University (RWTH).
At Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg you can currently choose from 36 practically-oriented study programmes on the basis of the latest research findings (20 Bachelors and 16 Master programmes).
The University’s professors have professional experience of both business and academia. In 2011, H-BRS founded its Graduate Institute (GI) and promotes interdisciplinary and sustainable young scientists. Currently, more than 90 doctoral students are enrolled at the H-BRS.
As a university of applied sciences, H-BRS is intensively active in practice-oriented research. A total of 15 research institutes cover a wide range of topics including detection technologies, genetics, sustainable development, resource conservation, security research and visual computing. - H-BRS scores again in the national CHE ranking: Good grades for the Department of Computer Science in terms of feasibility of degree programmes, international orientation, study situation, and links to professional experience from the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE). - H-BRS in Wirtschaftswoche ranking in the top ten: For the university ranking of Wirtschaftswoche, over 500 HR managers from small, medium-sized and large companies were asked from which universities they prefer to recruit graduates. Within the framework of this study in January 2018, the subjects Computer Science and Business Information Systems of the H-BRS were selected in the top ten. Learn more

- Family-friendly university: Certification through the “Family Friendly University Audit”, which the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has held since 2007, was renewed in October 2016. Learn more
Sustainability: the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences, makes sustainability a priority. This is shown by study programmes such as International Media Studies or NGO Management, which are also aimed at students from developing countries. In addition, the H-BRS International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) offers social, ecological and economic incentives for sustainability and with its Institute of Technology, Resource and Energy-Efficiency (TREE), H-BRS offers a platform for interdisciplinary and cooperative research in the field of technology development for sustainable development.
