    ZEF will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Graduate Program. The conference “Ten years of international graduate training at ZEF: Capacity development for the developing word” with debates and a panel discussion will take place in Bonn during the 1-2 October 2009.

    The Bonn Interdisciplinary Graduate School for Development Research (BiGS-DR) of the Center for Development Research (ZEF), Bonn University, was founded in 1999. Its main goal is training future decision makers from developing countries as well as scientists from all over the world for an international career in a development-oriented setting.

    After ten years BiGS-DR has achieved its main goal of building human capital for the developing world. During the last decade, 402 young scientists from 77 countries have participated in our Graduate Program, and the majority of the students from developing countries have returned to their home regions in Africa, Asia and South America.
