Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences: Research Fellow (50%)

The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is an internationally and applied-research oriented university of applied sciences with approx. 7.500 Students and 145 professors.

The International Centre for Sustainable Development is currently offering a part-time (50%), 2-year fixed-term Research Fellow Position for the international research project “Breaking the Vicious Circle between Poverty and Ill-Health – Are cash transfers and social health protection policies in Ghana and Kenya mutually complementing?”. The project aims at analysing the relationship between cash transfers and social health protection policies in contributing to inclusive growth in Ghana and Kenya. The initiative involves project partners from Holland, Germany, Ghana and Kenya and is funded by the WOTRO Science for Global Development Division of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).

The successful candidate will join an international research consortium and is expected to contribute to the implementation of the research project by

  • Reviewing research literature
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative empirical research
  • Maintaining documentation of data sets and analyses
  • Preparing scientific reports, papers and presentations
  • Supporting the overall coordination of the project with internal and external partners

We expect:

  • Master degree in Economics, Political Science, Public Health or other development related fields

  • Very good understanding of development-related topics, preferably in the area of social protection and health

  • Sound knowledge of empirical research methods including statistical and econometric skills and good knowledge of statistical software applications such as SPSS, EViews or STATA

  • Fluency in English

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Very good organizational and communication skills

  • Work experience in an international context is desirable
