Date & Time: 17 June 2014, 13:00-13:40
Place: Langer-Eugen lobby, UN Campus, Platz der Vereinten Nationen 1, 53113 Bonn, Germany
The World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) is observed worldwide on 17 June every year. The theme this year is ecosystem-based adaptation. The slogan, ‘Land Belongs to the Future, Let’s Climate Proof It’, highlights the benefits of making sustainable land management policy and practice a part of our collective response to climate change.
UNCCD will organize a social observance event at the Langer-Eugen, the UNCCD Headquarters in Bonn, with a ceremony, an art exhibition and a networking opportunity for people who care about our sustainable common future and the role of healthy land in it. During the ceremony, the organization will launch Colours of the Earth, an art exhibition by Mrs Verena Reinmann. She has created amazing art objects using natural sands and soils from 123 UN member states.
Drinks and snacks will be provided.
The event is open to all. Entry is free but pre-registration via an email to cvoigt@unccd.int is required in order to gain access to the UN Campus. If you are coming as a group, a list of the visitors should be sent in advance by the group leader. Additionally, a photo identity with the name submitted will be required at the entry on the day.
