The Handbook of Water Resources Management aims at facilitating communication and dialogue between actors of the international community involved in water resources management, discourses and multi-level decision-making processes.

It provides the reader with facts, theories, methods and practical illustrations from a wide array of disciplines with relevance to water resources management, including hydrology, geology, geophysics, law, ethics, economics, ecology, engineering, sociology, and diplomacy. It also introduces a wealth of cases in varying forms and lengths to highlight success stories and, underline lessons to be remembered. It offers comprehensive and critical material to the numerous communities of actors involved in water resources management who need to better understand each other’s work, views and methods in order to work more efficiently together.

ZEF senior fellows Janos Bogardi and Anik Bhaduri as well as ZEF senior researcher Navneet Kumar are co-editors of the Handbook.

An overview of all chapters and articles can be found here.

The Handbook was launched and presented at an event organized by the Bonn Water Network on the occasion of (but one day after) World Water Day 2021 (“Valuing Water”) on March 23, 2021.

You can watch the World Water Day and book launch event on ZEF’s youtube channel here.
