The WorldCCBonn certified “Partner of Sustainable Bonn”, an initiative in which a number of hotels, conference facilities and event industry businesses participate under the patronage of the mayor of Bonn. The aim is to organise and host more environmentally friendly and future-oriented events in Bonn and at the WorldCCBonn.
A sustainability programme and catalogue of measures have been produced for the WorldCCBonn as part of “Sustainable Bonn”. Collaborators at the WorldCCBonn took part in workshops to learn about sustainability and its implementation in practice. Topics of focus were energy, water, separation of recyclable materials using waste disposal technology, mobility management, employee motivation and acquisition taking sustainability criteria into consideration.
Energy-efficient Building Technology
The Main Building uses natural power sources and energy-efficient building technology including energy-saving lights, efficient heat recovery in ventilation systems, geothermal energy for heating and air conditioning, a photovoltaic system on the roof with 60 kWp, centrally managed energy via a building control system and green roofs.

Das WorldCCBonn ist wiederholt zertifizierter “Partner of Sustainable Bonn”, einer Initiative, an der sich unter der Schirmherrschaft des Bonner Oberbürgermeisters eine Vielzahl von Hotels, Tagungsstätten und Betrieben der Veranstaltungsbranche beteiligen. Es ist das Ziel, Veranstaltungen in Bonn und im WorldCCBonn umweltbewusster und zukunftsorientierter zu organisieren und durchzuführen.
Im Rahmen von “Sustainable Bonn” wurde für das WorldCCBonn ein Nachhaltigkeitsprogramm entwickelt sowie ein Maßnahmenkatalog festgelegt. Mitarbeiter des WorldCCBonn nahmen an Workshops teil, in denen sie bezüglich nachhaltigkeitsrelevanter Aspekte und deren praxisnaher Umsetzung geschult wurden. Themenschwerpunkte waren die Bereiche Energie, Wasser, Wertstofftrennung bei der Entsorgungstechnik, Mobilitätsmanagement, Mitarbeitermotivation und Beschaffung unter Berücksichtigung von Nachhaltigkeitskriterien.
Energieeffiziente Gebäudetechnik
Das Hauptgebäude des Kongresszentrums wird mit Naturstrom betrieben und es kommt eine energieeffiziente Gebäudetechnik zum Einsatz, die stromsparende Beleuchtung, eine effiziente Wärmerückgewinnung in Lüftungsanlagen, Geothermie zur Heizung und Klimatisierung, eine Photovoltaikanlage auf der Dachfläche mit 60 kWp, ein zentrales Energiemanagement durch Gebäudeleittechnik sowie Gründächer beinhaltet.
