IFOAM – Organics International is inviting you along with other experts active for agroecology from around the world to submit a nomination: We have joined forces with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Future Council to celebrate exemplary legal frameworks and policies scaling up agroecology with the Future Policy Award 2018.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for nominations from all over the world for best legal frameworks and policies scaling up agroecology that are inspiring, innovative and effective. These policies contribute to the protection of life and livelihoods of smallholders and family farmers, ensure sustainable and inclusive food production systems, implement sustainable agricultural practices that help conserve and enhance the natural resources base and strengthen capacity for adaptation to climate change and also contribute to mitigation. The nominated legal framework or policy must be in existence for long enough to demonstrate its effective implementation and impact; deliver identifiable improvements; and taking into account systemic aspects such as sustainable use of resources, equity, and poverty eradication, reflecting a holistic and integrated perspective.
