In about ten days the People’s Climate Summit will start (November 3-7!)! Climate activists from all over the world will meet in Bonn. A few days before the start of the official climate negotiations we are going to show that climate change is not only an issue for governments – but for all of us! The People’s Climate Summit will be a space for networking, meeting each other and inspiration.
On our website you will now get an impression of our exciting international programme:
At the summit, you will get to know the Pacific Climate Warriors, a group of climate activists from the Pacific whose existence is imminently threatened by rising sea levels. They will talk about how climate change affects their lives and cultures and will help to enrich the People’s Climate Summit with their strong messages and traditional ways of communication. Many groups from the Global South will speak out, who are fighting against the destruction of their livelihoods, and who are feeling the impacts of climate change and industrial mega projects. The Indigenous Environmental Network will talk about climate racism and the fights against Dakota Access Pipeline; we will discuss how a social-ecological transformation and just transition can succeed; you will learn about Gender Justice, straw bale building and anti-aviation protests – and a lot more:
Three big evening events (3.-5.11) will feature some of the key debates around climate justice, a phase out of fossil fuels and systemic change. During the day there will be time to take our messages and our protests to the streets – e.g. at the climate march on Nov 4. Monday and on Tuesday (6.+7.11.) there will be workshops all day in different locations in Bonn.

The central gathering place will be a circus tent. Here you will find an info-point and a kitchen that serves vegan food on donation basis. The exact location of the tent will soon be published on our website.

Schon in einer Woche geht es los: Vom 3. bis 7. November treffen sich Klima-Aktivist*innen aus aller Welt in Bonn zum People’s Climate Summit 2017. Wenige Tage vor dem Beginn der offiziellen UN-Klimaverhandlungen zeigen wir: Das Klima geht nicht nur die Regierungen etwas an – sondern uns alle! Der People’s Climate Summit soll Raum bieten für Begegnung, Vernetzung und Inspiration.
Ihr werdet die Pacific Climate Warriors kennenlernen, eine Gruppe von Klima-Aktivist*innen aus dem Südpazifik, deren Existenz unmittelbar vom steigenden Meeresspiegel bedroht ist. Sie werden berichten, wie sich der Klimawandel auf ihr Leben und ihre Kultur auswirkt und den People’s Climate Summit mit starken Botschaften durch traditionelle Kommunikationsformen bereichern.
Zahlreiche Gruppen aus dem globalen Süden kommen zu Wort, die gegen die Zerstörung ihrer Lebensgrundlagen kämpfen, ob durch industrielle Großprojekte oder durch die Folgen des Klimawandels. Das Indigenous Environmental Network spricht über Klimarassismus und die Kämpfe gegen die Dakota Access Pipeline in den USA.Wir diskutieren darüber, wie eine sozial-ökologische Transformation und gerechte Übergänge gelingen können. Es geht um Gender Justice, Lehmbau, Migration, die Vernetzung von Flughafenprotesten – und vieles mehr.
Drei große, international besetzte Abendforen geben von Freitag bis Sonntag (3.-5. November) einen Einblick in die Diskussionen um Klimagerechtigkeit, den Ausstieg aus fossilen Energien und die Möglichkeiten des systemischen Wandels. Tagsüber ist Gelegenheit, unsere Inhalte und unseren Protest auf die Straße zu tragen – zum Beispiel bei der Demo am 4. November. Montag und Dienstag (6. und 7. November) finden ganztägig Workshops an verschiedenen Orten in Bonn statt.

Zentraler Anlaufpunkt wird ein Zirkuszelt sein. Dort findet ihr einen Info-Punkt und eine vegane Küche auf Spendenbasis. Der genaue Ort des Zirkuszeltes wird in Kürze auf der Webseite bekannt gegeben.
