17.12.2015 | University of Bonn: Impacts of air pollution and climate change on human health, plants, and ecosystems (ARTS Ringvorlesung)

The University of Bonn cordially invites you to the last ARTS seminar series presentation in 2015 – hoping that the topics – after Paris – will really be tackled.

Inhalt: Climate change and air pollution are two environmental challenges that are often viewed as separate issues, while in fact they are highly connected by common sources and mitigation options. Unless action is taken, air pollution will be the largest environmental cause of premature death worldwide by 2050. Air pollution can reduce crop yields and food security; tree mortality can be increased by aerosols and global-change type drought. There are various feedback mechanisms which make the impact of mitigation strategies difficult to predict.

Referent/in: PD Dr. Jürgen Burkhardt, University of Bonn

Ort und Adresse: Institut für Geodäsie und Geoinformation, Nussallee 1 Bonn 53115, HS I

Wann: 17.12.2015, Uhrzeit: 17:00 – 18:30 ( Donnerstag )

The international master program “ARTS” (Agricultural Sciences and Resource Management in the Tropics and Subtropics) will contribute a seminar series on the dimensions of climate change. Please find the programme here.
