09.01.2014 | Bonn University: Strengthening of resilience and drought preparedness among pastoralists at the Horn of Africa

Ringvorlesung: At the Horn of Africa, pastoralists and agro-pastoralists apply sophisticated systems of range- and pasture management in arid and semi-arid zones. But their livelihoods are endangered, especially through adverse effects of the worldwide climate change: recurrent and prolonged droughts and floods. VSF Germany supports them in strengthening their resilience and drought preparedness in four ways: setting up of reciprocal grazing agreements; drought contingency planning; contributing to peaceful conflict resolution and offering alternatives for their livelihood.
