Deutsche Post DHL became the first logistics company to receive the ‘Green Brands’ eco-seal for its Group-wide environmental protection program GoGreen. The quality seal internationally recognizes brands that have proven their commitment to the practice and communication of environmental sustainability internally and externally in a way that is both transparent and verifiable.
At the Green Brands award presentation in Berlin, Christof Ehrhart, Director of Corporate Communications and Corporate Responsibility at Deutsche Post DHL, underscored the significance of the award. “We are very pleased to be the first logistics company to receive the ‘Green Brands’ award for our GoGreen program. It provides an important confirmation of the work we are doing and the goals we have set as part of our Group-wide environmental protection program,” said Ehrhart. “As a logistics company, we have a special responsibility to the environment, which is why we have developed these comprehensive measures that allow us to conduct business in a more sustainable way, both within our own operations and in cooperation with our customers.”
‘Green Brands’ seal is a recognized quality seal for sustainability
Deutsche Post DHL introduced its first environmentally-friendly products to the market as early as 2006 before launching the GoGreen program in 2008. The overarching goal of the program is to improve Group-wide carbon efficiency by 30 percent by the year 2020. By 2012 Deutsche Post DHL had already achieved a 16 percent gain in carbon efficiency. GoGreen involves products and services as well as the ongoing optimization of transport routes and networks, improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings, implementation of innovative technologies, mobilization of employees and involvement of subsidiaries, subcontractors and customers.
An international organization headquartered in Ireland, ‘Green Brands’ has developed a unique three-stage selection process for identifying and recognizing companies, products and initiatives. It awards its eco-seal in cooperation with independent institutions from the environmental/climate protection and sustainability sector, as well as with market and opinion research institutes. The ‘Green Brands’ seal is a recognized quality seal for sustainability.
