About  the lecture:
Ms Heider is the Director General of the Independent Evaluation Group, which evaluates the development effectiveness of the World Bank Group, comprising IBRD, IDA, IFC and MIGA. As a global leader in development evaluation, she has advised on evaluation guidelines for various international organizations, contributed to the finalization of the UN Evaluation Group’s (UNEG) Norms and Standards for evaluation.  Her publications include “Evaluating Policy: A Perspective from Multilateral Experience,” and “A Conceptual Framework for Developing Evaluation Capacities.”  She has a MBA from Freie Universität Berlin, and is a life-time member of the International Development Evaluation Association.

In this lecture, she will present the response of the World Bank Group to the Global Food Crisis. How did the World Bank response to the crisis starting with the hikes of food prices in 2007/2008, which measures did the World Bank take with what results? What are the lessons learned and recommendations for the future, also from a management perspective?
