Certification Scheme Officer m/f)

FUNCTION

FLO-CERT is looking for a business oriented person who is willing to coordinate and to administer the Fairtrade certification scheme on close collaboration with the Certification Scheme Manager and Fairtrade International. The ability to communicate and negotiate with staff in the Operations Department as well as with a variety of different stakeholders is required. The attention to detail, willingness to learn and team work spirit are essential assets on this position. The person will be part of a small unit dedicated to improving the certification scheme from FLO-CERT and closely collaborate with a multicultural team located in four international offices.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate revision cycles of the FLO-CERT certification scheme
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the FLO-CERT certification scheme
  • Coordinate the resolution of inquiries between Standards Unit and Certification / Operations Department

TASKS

  • Manage projects on further improving efficiencies and quality of the FLO-CERT certification scheme
  • Ensure the bi-annual revision cycle for certification scheme relevant internal documents
  • Closely liaise with Fairtrade International on interpretation and exceptions of Fairtrade Standards
  • Act as link between Certification Unit and Standards Unit
  • Actively participate in defining projects for system improvement
  • Answer special requests from National Fairtrade Organizations
  • Coordinate constant improvement of certification processes

REPORTING TO

  • Certification Scheme Manager

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary:

  • University level education (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (Food Science, Business,      Agronomy, Law, Economics, sociology etc.)
  • At least two years of related professional work experience in a customer, office or stakeholder environment.
  • 1 year work experience in certification systems (e.g. organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000,
  • ISO 14001, etc) in particular with ISO 65 accreditation
  • Fluent in English oral and written.
  • Flexible, pro-active and hard-working work style.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with different cultures.
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong dedication towards customer service.
  • Motivation for Fairtrade and sustainability

Advantageous

  • Good knowledge of Spanish oral and written.
  • Experience in working in multi stakeholder environment
  • Technical knowledge of process management
  • Business experience in international trade.
  • Work experience in food processing industry.

The attention to detail, willingness to learn and team work spirit are essential assets on this position. The person will be part of a multicultural team which is responsible for the certification of Fairtrade customers in Europe& North America.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the team in administrative and organizational matters.

• Support in processes related to the service delivery to customers.

TASKS

• Assist Regional Manager and Analysts in the team.

• Support the team by updating information in the database.

• Assist in data gathering from operational data base.

• Ensure the audit planning and assignment of audits for the region Europe& North America.

• Assist in communication with clients.

• Ensure invoicing to clients in Europe& North America.

REPORTING TO

• Regional Manager Europe & North America

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Necessary:

•  Any business or commercial professional education (e.g. office-, trade-, merchant apprenticeship IHK) or equivalent.

•  Fluent in English oral and written.

• Strong organizational skills

• A team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

•  A pro-active, hard-working and reliable individual and work style.

•  Excellent communication skills, flexible, experience in dealing with different cultures.

•  Strong dedication towards customer service.

•  Motivation for Fairtrade.

Advantageous

•Professional work experience of at least two years.

•Experience with Customer Relationship Management Tools.

•Work experience in certification systems (e.g. organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000, ISO 14001,

etc.) or the food industry.

•Fluent in German, French or Spanish.
