About the speaker
: Gabriele Christmann takes a sociological perspective on urban spaces. In her ‘habilitation’ she analyzed urban culture and urban identity in Dresden.
Dr. Christmann significantly contributes to ongoing scholarly work within German sociology on communicative and discursive processes in the construction of spaces, a school of thought inspired by Berger/Luckmann’s work on the social construction of reality, and increasingly developed further by emphasizing the role of communication and concept of space in the everyday shaping of reality.
