The Regional Representation of the European Commission in Bonn and the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) in cooperation with Deutsche Welle take pleasure in inviting you to the open lecture

“MORE THAN A FOREIGN SERVICE – THE EU’S NEW EXTERNAL POLICY AFTER THE LISBON TREATY”

When: Monday, 17th January 2011, at 15.00 h

Where: Deutsche Welle, Gremiensaal, Kurt Schumacher Str. 3, 53113 Bonn

The Lisbon Treaty has not only changed the role of the European Union but it has also radically rebuilt its way of working. One of the most obvious changes took place in the EU foreign policy, most visible in the post of a “High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy”, combined with that of Vice-President of the European Commission, currently held by Catherine Ashton.

The speakers are:

Director Strategy, Coordination, and Analysis of the Directorate-General External Relations of the European Commission, Brussels

Prof. Dr. Ludger Kühnhardt, Director, Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI), University of Bonn

Dr. Stephan Koppelberg, Head of the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Bonn

The event will be moderated by Fabian Schmidt, Journalist, EU Desk, Deutsche Welle, Bonn.
