BMZ: Dirk Niebel appointed Development Minister

On the 28. October 2009  in Berlin, Federal President Horst Köhler appointed Dirk Niebel as Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development. Following the appointment, Mr. Niebel was sworn in at the German parliament. From May 2005 until his appointment as Development Minister, he served as Secretary-General of the Free Democratic Party (FDP). “I am excited about the new and challenging field of work which I am about to take on, and I would be grateful for as much support as possible in discharging my duties in an area that is of such importance to society,” Dirk Niebel said. more
