The UNSSC Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development is pleased to announce that we are now accepting registrations for the Stakeholder Engagement and Consensus Building for Sustainable Development course, which will run from 16 April to 18 April 2018 in New York City, USA.
This three-day course provides an in-depth overview of strategies for assessing, designing, and convening multi-stakeholder partnerships and initiatives. It is designed and delivered in partnership with the Consensus Building Institute (CBI)—a not-for-profit organization founded in 1993 by leading practitioners and theory builders in the fields of negotiation and dispute resolution and affiliated with Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Through case studies and realistic simulations, participants will deep their skills in framing sustainable development goals in ways that motivate constructive stakeholder engagement. Participants will also learn how to identify and assess key stakeholders on sustainable development issues and understand how to leverage areas of potential agreement and address possible conflicts. The course builds skills on interest-based negotiation and mediation to resolve conflicting interests and teach effective ways to hold dialogues. The course also includes workshops on building trust and relationships that help address underlying conflicts in values, identities, and historical legacies.
The course fee is 3,500 USD. This covers three days of training with a balance of presentations and group work on case studies and exercises, exclusive access to our online learning platform with training and supporting background materials, all course materials, resources, and contacts.
