Stadt Bonn: Bonn Conference Highlights for the First Half of 2018

The first six months of the new year will again bring a number of high-level conferences to Bonn: In February, the European Conference on Research Integrity at the University will be followed by a Climate Conference in our city organized by the German Association of Towns and Municipalities and by a state-level conference of the One-World Network in North Rhine-Westphalia in March focusing on development policy in times of global insecurity.

Also in March, the UN SDG Action Campaign will organize its Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development at the World Conference Center Bonn. And LAG 21 NRW and the Service Agency Communities in One World / Engagement Global will hold their closing conference entitled ‘Globally Sustainable Municipality’ at the end of the month.

In April, ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability will again organize the annual Resilient Cities conference in Bonn, which will be followed by the Bonn Climate Change Conference hosted by UNFCCC.
June will see the DW Global Media Forum with a special focus on global inequalities this year.

The eleventh edition of this annual technical conference will again bring several hundred representatives of municipalities, politics, science and economy to Bonn for an exchange of experience and best practice at local level. 9 to 10 Mar 2018: State Conference ‘Development Policy in Times of Global Insecurity’

21 to 23 Mar 2018: Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development

22 Mar 2018: Closing Conference ‘Globally Sustainable Municipality’

The Service Agency Communities in One World supports cities and municipalities in all issues of local development cooperation and has been providing advisory and other services to municipalities and local actors since 2001. 26 to 28 April: Resilient Cities Conference 2018

This annual global forum on urban resilience and adaptation was first launched in 2010 to discuss the special challenges in urban environments around the globe and forge new partnerships in the field. The 9th edition of the Resilient Cities congress series will focus on three thematic streams: incorporating adaptation, collaborative adaptation and implementation and monitoring. There will be a number of related panel discussions and trainings as well as an Open European Day back to back with the conference on 25 April.

Global Inequalities will be the focus theme of the 2018 Global Media Forum hosted by Deutsche Welle. Shedding light on all dimensions of global inequality and its various solutions is a difficult yet vital mission for media, civil society and politicians. There will again be a number of related panel discussions and a Media Innovation Lab Day on the third day of the conference.
