IFOAM: Call for Nominations for One World Award

The highly-endowed “encourager award ” ONE WORLD AWARD (OWA) decorates people who are committed to fair and sustainable globalization – taking ecological, economic and social aspects into consideration. Top-class nominations from all over the world are on hand for the next award. An extension of time allows for the nomination of projects until November 15. Proposals will be accepted by the OWA committee, which is made up of staff members of the organic food producer Rapunzel and representatives of IFOAM – Organics International.

The OWA committee will choose four finalists from the international applications, which will be visited on location. All laureates will receive an OWA-medal and 5.000 Euros as a financial honor in a ceremony at the ONE WORLD festival in Legau/Allgäu (Germany) in September 2017. From the finalists, the internationally formed jury will select a winner as OWA awardee. The award is endowed with the „Lady OWA“ statue and 25.000 Euros. The jury under presidency of Bernward Geier is formed by renowned personalities as Dr. Vandana Shiva and Nnimmo Bassey (both laureates of the Right Livelihood Award) as well as Roberto Ugas (from the World Board of IFOAM – Organics International) and Joseph Wilhelm, initiator of the OWA as well as founder and Managing Director of Rapunzel Organic Food PLC.

“Each single application encourages us!”  – With these words Joseph Wilhelm comments on the appeal for worldwide recognition. “It is great to see how many people are ready to commit themselves to real sustainability and a better world”, adds Markus Arbenz, Director of IFOAM – Organics International. They both agree: Inspiration and motivation are the source of power for the OWA whose basic concept is gaining importance and significance day by day and year by year.

Self-nominations are not allowed. Applications have to be submitted in English on the appropriate form. The call for nominations will close at November 15, 2016. At www.one-world-award.com you will find all information about the conditions of participation as well as the previous finalists and winners.
