The Center for Development Research (ZEF) cordially invites you to the awards ceremony of this year’s ZEF Friends Prize for the best doctoral thesis of ZEF students published during the last two years.
We are happy to announce this year’s awardee: Alam Hossain Mondal who received the Prize for his doctoral thesis on: “Implications of renewable energy technologies in the Bangladesh power sector: Long-term planning strategies”.
Alam Hossain Mondal is ZEF alumnus from Bangladesh and currently working at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi.

Among the speakers at the ceremony is Mr. Dolf Gielen, the Director of IRENA — Innovation and Technology Center (IITC), Bonn, will give a talk on “Planning energy transitions: Experiences from IRENA”.
About ZEF Friends and their Prize
The Society of the Friends of ZEF is a network of experts founded with the overall objective to promote the exchange of academic knowledge and practical experience in development research and development policy. The Society consists of former academics, politicians, entrepreneurs and development experts who share their knowledge and experiences with ZEF researchers. The Society’s Prize in the amount of 1,500 EUR is awarded on a bi-annual basis to a ZEF doctoral student who wrote an excellent doctoral thesis with a high developmental relevance.
