23.02.2022 | Online event: How evidence-informed is German Development Cooperation? (DEval)

Is German development cooperation effective? Does it achieve the intended impact? Is it informed by the best scientific evidence? In an online event organised by the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) we will discuss these questions and present a BMZ-funded research project on the implementation of rigorous impact evaluation.

DEval warmly invites you to our event “We analysed how evidence-informed German Development Cooperation is and that’s what we found” on Wednesday, 23rd February 2022 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. In this online event we will tell you, whether German development cooperation generates and uses (rigorous) evidence and what steps it could take to establish a culture of learning from evidence. We will share our top 5 tips on how you can make your own work more evidence-informed and thereby increase its impact.

Wednesday, 23rd February 2022 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.

More Information:
We will present insights from a BMZ-funded research project at DEval that investigated the implementation of rigorous impact evaluation and the use of rigorous evidence in German development cooperation. The final research report of this project has just been published. You can download the report – including a quick and easy to read 2-page summary.

During the online event, we will also launch a website that provides helpful resources on rigorous impact evaluation. At the heart of the website you will find an interactive online version of our report and a rigorous evidence database  for rigorous impact evaluations (co)funded by BMZ since 2014. Soon, the website will also include information on a pilot funding programme for rigorous impact evaluation(s) to be launched this year! The website will be continuously updated to provide information for those who want to implement rigorous impact evaluations or use rigorous evidence in their work.
