UNSSC: Call for Student Volunteers

The UN Summer Academy has been organized by the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) every year since 2012. It prides itself on offering executive education, learning and knowledge exchange to those actively engaged with the UN System in their daily lives.
The UN Summer Academy 2016 is titled ‘Shaping a Sustainable Future’ and will focus on the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals, along with the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Summer Academy combines academic rigour with cutting edge thinking, builds on renowned faculty and is open to UN staff, civil society and private sector representatives alike, as well as a select number of post-graduate students and young professionals, interested in further pursuing opportunities in the field of sustainable development.
For this event, we are looking for student volunteers who can help the UN Summer Academy (UNSA) Organizing Team in the following tasks:

  • Venue preparation, registration, and logistics
  • Social media posting (Twitter and Facebook)
  • Writing key messages of different sessions

The UN Summer Academy 2016 will be held on 22-26 August 2016 at the Haus Carstanjen, Martin-Luther-King-Str.8, Bonn 53175.

Who are qualified to apply?

  • Currently enrolled students in a university;
  • With knowledge and particular interest in the United Nations and its work;
  • With knowledge of using social media, particularly Twitter and Facebook, and can live tweet or post during the UN Summer Academy;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Can provide assistance and support in event logistics.

How to apply?
Please send an email to unsummeracademy@unssc.org with an email subject ‘UNSA Volunteering Application’ with the following information and attachments:

  • Application Form
  • Proof of matriculation
  • Motivation letter stating why you would like to apply as a volunteer for this event. Please state which qualifications you have as required above (maximum of 500 words).

When is the deadline?
Please send your application on or before 5 August 2016.

When will I know if I am chosen?
We will send a confirmation email on or before 15 August. We will prioritize applicants who are available for most of the days of the UN Summer Academy.
