The second United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-2), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the Global Gender and the Environment Outlook (GGEO): The Critical Issues, on 25.05.2016. The report examines the interlinkages between gender and the environment, and their importance for gender-sensitive policymaking and actions. Bringing together international experts from major groups and international organizations, the report evaluates and analyses how environmental change affects the lives of men and women in different ways due to existing gender dynamics and inequalities. It also examines how the different roles and status within societies may affect the coping strategies and choices women and men have available to become agents of change in sustainable development processes.
UNU-EHS Senior Researcher Dr. Cosmin Corendea was a contributing author to the report. UNU-EHS is also a partner of GGEO.
