Call for an ACCOUNTANT
IFOAM – Organics International leads, unites and assists the global Organic Movement. It has about 800 affiliates in nearly 120 countries and also acts as a Global Action Network that implements projects around the world. The organization has a turnover of about 2.5 million Euro and about 25 staff in its head office in Bonn, Germany and in three other countries.
The Accountant is responsible for the administration of all financial matters. She/he works closely with and reports to the Deputy Director.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The tasks of the Accountant include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining the accounting for the organization, including bookkeeping, invoicing, cash flow monitoring, project accounting, etc.;

Preparing the annual financial audit for all accounts and projects, as well as the balance sheet and income statement for the external auditor;
-
Preparing quarterly statements for the World Board and Management;
-
Administering money transfers, petty cash disbursements and overseeing bank account balances;
-
Assisting the project managers in project accounting and preparing the project audits according to donor requirements;
-
Preparing the monthly and annual value added tax declarations and assisting the tax consultant in the preparation of the annual corporate income tax declaration;
-
Issuing donation receipts according to the not–‐for–‐profit status of the organization;
-
Handling external correspondence related to financial matters, e.g. with tax consultant, authorities, banks, insurance companies, as well as with clients, business partners and donor organizations;
-
Translating documents of the organization into German, as requested by the authorities;
-
Assisting in improving the work flows between the different software tools used for online banking, bookkeeping and data management (cloud computing via SalesForce);
-
Serving as contact person for staff in regard to all matters related to accounting and financial administration;

Maintaining historical files, e.g. bank statements, salary and social security files;
-
Preparing reports for government authorities and serving as a first contact for tax and social security audits.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate identifies with the mission and goals of the organization and is able to positively relate to the strategic plan of IFOAM – Organics International.
The employee conducts her/his work with uncompromising integrity and loyalty appropriate to the position. In addition she/he positively contributes to the team spirit of our multicultural Head Office. He/she will be open–‐minded and service–‐oriented, with a strong ability to communicate inside and outside the organization. A high level of initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision, as well as an ability to develop and set her/his own priorities and agenda also characterize the candidate.
The candidate should possess the following:
• Proven appropriate professional experience of at least 3 years related to accounting/ financial administration/ bookkeeping;
• Education completed in regard to financial administration, business administration or accounting;
• Ability to effectively and creatively handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines;
• Good writing skills;
• Written and spoken fluency in English and German;
• Experience with at least one common bookkeeping software, excellent command of the MS Office package (particularly MS Word & Excel), online banking systems and cloud database administration (e.g. SalesForce).
CONDITIONS
Position: Full Time position (100%). 80% possible.
Location: Bonn, Germany.
Starting date: April 4, 2016 (preferred)
Salary: Depending on years of relevant experience and qualification, the salary ranges, for a full–‐ time position from 33.000 € to 37.000 € p.a. (brut)
