This water lecture will be held by Claudia Hiepe, Climate Change Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Rome, Italy. Topic: “The crucial role of water in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation: Experiences from development projects in the Philippines, Bangladesh and Saint Lucia”. Claudia Hiepe has been working as a Climate Change Officer in the Natural Resources Management and Environment Department of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) since 2007. Her main tasks are the internal coordination and knowledge management of FAOs climate change work and the backstopping of field projects dealing with capacity development for climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and rural development in Africa, Asia, Latin-America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining FAO she worked for the GLOWA-IMPETUS project that investigated the impacts of global change on the hydrological cycle in West Africa. Claudia holds a doctoral degree in Geography and a diploma in Geoecology.
