Global Solutions for Sustainable Development
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the foundation of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in 2013. It comprises 26 renowned international scientists from various fields of natural, engineering, and social sciences and the humanities, as well as the interdisciplinary subjects of oceanology, climate change and biodiversity research. The SAB advises both the UN Secretary-General and the executive heads of UN organizations on matters involving science, technology and innovation for sustainable development. Particular focus is placed on the interfaces between science, research and practice.
From April 13th until July 5th, six members of the Scientific Advisory Board will discuss issues of sustainability and report on the importance of their research areas for the UN agenda at the Bonner Universitätsforum.
The invited members of the Scientific Advisory Board work in research fields that are also represented in Bonn's international scientific and academic landscape. These eminent experts will report on their current research and discuss recent developments with a professional audience and the interested public.
