11.05.2016 | GIZ: Webinar on Inclusive Education and Forced Displacement

Avoiding lost generations – providing equal access to quality education and safe learning environments

The Research Project for Inclusive Education in Development Cooperation has led to the development of Science to Policy Briefs on key topics high on the political agenda. These publications give an overview of the respective field and include promising practices, information about research results and activities and concrete recommendations for the practical implementation in development cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Reinhard Markowetz and Klaus Jahn from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich will present their findings on current research and best practices on inclusive education and forced displacement that may serve as a guidance for related projects in development cooperation. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, May 11th, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST (local time in Germany; please convert to your time zone).

In order to join the webinar, you have to follow the instructions below:

  • Please install Java on your computer. You will find plenty of information about installing Java (in several languages) on www.java.com. To install Java on your GIZ computer, please contact the ITSC (Tel: -1111 / itsc@giz.de). Click “allow”/”enable” whenever the respective system warnings pop up.
  • Some of you maybe get the message “Your Java version is out of date”. In that case please click on “Later” or “Run this time”.
    • You need to have audio output working (preferably using a headset or earphones) and a reliable internet connection (avoid wireless and use LAN if possible).
    • We encourage participants to use microphones in order to actively engage in our sessions, but you can participate without microphone.
    • Please run the system check right away on the computer you will be using during the webinar:  http://prod12.live-place.de/main/Install/SystemCheck.jsp. If you wait until the very last minute to check your system you might miss the webinar.

The day of the webinar, click on this link to access the virtual meeting room (the link does not work before the webinar). You should select English as your system language (upper left), fill in the requested form and click “join webinar”. If you want to receive further information after the webinar, for instance the link to the recording and the Science to Policy Brief, please make sure to fill in your e-mail address as well. The meeting room will open half an hour before the session starts. We strongly suggest you enter the webinar early to make sure everything works as expected.
