Department “Bi- and Multilateral Development Cooperation” is seeking a
Researcher (m/f, 100 %)
(salary according to German public service tariff (TVÖD) up to € 52.000,00 depending on qualifications)
The position can be filled on 1 April 2015 and is limited until 31 December 2017. The person selected will be expected to conduct research on European policy for global development at the interface of development policy and other areas of EU external relations (i.e. peace and security, trade, migration, agriculture or environment and climate). He / she will be a member of the research team in the project “Europe’s role in the World: From aid to global development” and work on European external relations and their linkages with development policy. The project analyses policy responses and implementation gaps of EU development policy towards low and middle income countries as well as international regimes and also investi-gates how the coherence between development policy and other fields of external relations can be improved.
Qualifications and requirements:

Excellent academic record, preferably PhD in economics, political science or related social sciences;

Proven knowledge and experience in both research and policy advice on EU external relations towards developing countries and/or on the EU’s role in inter-national organisations;
-
Research or job-related experience gained in developing countries;
-
Fluent spoken and written English, good knowledge of German is an asset, good knowledge in another major international language;
-
Willingness to work in a team;
- Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate.
