Date: 08.01.2015, 17:00 – 18:30 h

Where: Institut für Geodäsie und Geoinformation, Nussallee 1, HS I

Ringvorlesung with Prof. Dr. Rainer Stamminger, University of Bonn

Every day, millions of women worldwide walk far distances to collect fuel to cook meals for their families and breathe in harmful smoke while cooking over open flames. Diseases like cancer, pneumonia, lung diseases, burns and blindness and a few millions of premature deaths annually are the consequences. A widespread adoption and use of clean and efficient cookstoves and fuels may ease this situation. However, it is crucial to fully integrate women into the process of designing and distributing these stoves to ensure that the products meet their need and will be used.
