UNEP/UNFCCC: The Plaza San Martin hosts the exhibition: "THE FUTURE IS PRICELESS: WE HAVE THE POWER" bringing together seven masters of photojournalism

Powerful stories from around the world showing how renewable energy and energy efficiency are changing lives will be showcased in a photo exhibition in central Lima from today. PROLIMA, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Momentum for Change Initiative of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and Magnum Photos, have collaborated to present The Future is Priceless: We have the Power.

From market transformation for efficient lighting in Chile to bus rapid transit systems in Lima, these photo essays show responses to climate change being implemented around the globe. They highlight the kinds of solutions that need to be scaled up and replicated around the world to help close the emissions gap and keep global warming to just 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The pictures were selected by the photographers to highlight the clean energy evolution already under way. For more than a year, Magnum photographers have travelled the world to capture the work being done by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), UN- Habitat, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC), the Copenhagen Centre for Energy Efficiency (C2E2) and its partners. These pictures show that the tools exist to meet our energy needs without compromising the health and wellbeing of the planet for future generations. They also demonstrate that it is possible to implement them quickly when needed.
