Prof. Ulrich Schurr from the Forschungszentrum Jülich will give a lecture on:
Sustainable Bioeconomy: strategies – policies – implementation
The seminar will start with a basic analysis of the development of the bio-economy concept in recent years and the drivers behind bio-economy. In that context I will discuss recent policies in Europe and exemplarily developments in regions in other parts of the globe. This will emphasize the importance of knowledge generation on the one hand, but also address options and limitations of today´s developments. Here I will also critically analyse some developments where bio-based concepts do not necessarily develop into sustainable solutions. Innovation concepts bridging the gap between research and implementation will be discussed as well as the need to build on true inter and transdisciplinary approaches towards sustainable bio-economy solutions.
Venue: Center for Development Research (ZEF), Walter-Flex-Strasse 3, 53113 Bonn, room 2.008
Date: Friday, November 7, 2014, 10:00 am – 11:30 am
