31.10.2014 | GIZ: International Monetary Fund – Presentation „Macroeconomic Developments in Low-Income Countries“

Building on its work on low-income countries, in October 2014 the IMF launched a new publication focusing on low-income developing countries (LIDCs)—a group of 60 countries eligible for concessional financing from both the IMF and the World Bank. This session aims to:

  • examine the drivers of past strong economic performance and their short-term economic prospects
  • assess economic risks and vulnerabilities these countries currently face, against the backdrop of a brittle and uneven global recovery
  • review the evolution of public debt in LIDCs post debt relief and the challenges posed by increasing debt levels in some LIDCs

The report will be presented by Olaf Unteroberdoerster and Marialuz Moreno Badia, both IMF. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session.

Welcome and moderation by Günther Taube, GIZ, Director of Division “Education, Health, Social Protection”

The event will take place in English.
