Islamic Relief Deutschland and Welthungerhilfe are inviting you to a conference entitled “Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid in the Context of Islam: Working together for constructive Policies and Partnerships“. The conference will take place at the Wissenschaftszentrum in Bonn, Germany on 7-8 December 2009.
The conference focuses on the role of religion and in particular Islam for development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Our aim is to create a better understanding between Muslim and western actors in the course of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Due to lack of knowledge about each others, prejudices sometimes arise between western aid agencies and Muslim organizations, or between western aid workers and Muslim communities. This conference will serve as a platform for all development players to meet together, discuss their concerns and approaches to humanitarian aid and development with an overall aim to improve development cooperation and deliver more effective relief and development operations to the needy population.
A wide range of distinguished speakers from European and German universities and institutes, development aid agencies as well as European NGOs will contribute to this conference with an attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Islamic Relief Deutschland und die Welthungerhilfe laden am 7. und 8. Dezember 2009 zu einer zweitägiger Konferenz zum Thema Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und humanitäre Hilfe im Kontext des Islams nach Bonn ein. Die Konferenz hat den Anspruch eine Brücke zwischen Theorie und Praxis zu schlagen. Sie bringt Erfahrungsberichte von Entwicklungshelfern in islamisch geprägten Regionen mit Vorträgen hochrangiger Politiker und wissenschaftlicher Experten aus den Bereichen der Religionswissenschaft, Politikwissenschaft und Regionalwissenschaft zusammen.
